The maids probably didn’t sleep quite so comfortably back then, even though this spacious, bright room has been named after them. “Carusa” means girl or maid in the Apulian dialect. After the renovation, with a four-poster bed, lounge sofa and chandelier it looks more like the lord of the manor’s room – only much more modern and elegant.
If the typical tuff stone vaulted ceilings which we have uncovered and restored in almost all the other rooms seem a little too rustic, you will love the high, completely whitewashed cross vaulting of this room. This, too, is very typical of Apulia.
